Yes. It is the Miss Universe pageant. Which, by the way, is terribly planet-centric of us. Much the way the United States' "World Series" ignores the rest of the world that plays baseball.

I suspect that over the years, the 'national costume' outfits have become more and more overdone, and each year someone attempts to outdo the year before, until what you are left with is this sartorial affront to human dignity.
