The beautiful part of not fully opting into the overcommercialization of Valentines Day is that one can take one's husband out the weekend following the actual day and not have to worry about the hassle of getting reservations at a romantic spot.

Did anyone else hear that very loud high pitched yell? I do not believe it sounded like Terry, which is impressive as my ears are still ringing.

It does not seem like it has been that long. Yet it is true, as of today Angelo and I have been married five years. Gifts are appreciated (fifth anniversary is wood, for those of you curious) and may be left at our suite while we are out at dinner.

Do not expect us back until some time tomorrow.

While I certainly have a number of opinions about the American overcommercialization of things, romance in particular, I also believe in not taking one's partner for granted.

Seeing as today is my husband's birthday, and it being a fantastic summer Saturday, that I would organize a pool party in his honor.

IT IS EUROVISION SONG CONTEST TIME.

The grand final is this Saturday, and as is our habit, my cousin and I will be hosting a watch party with a variety of food and drink to be had.

Come watch:

-Marie-Ange and I engage in intense debate on whether France has decided to take this year seriously or just send a few idiots for the sake of it.
-Making fun of the more pretentious acts.
-Trying to determine which country who is otherwise completely out of the running will send the unexpected smash hit of the year (last year's was Moldova)
-Almost certainly drinking contests for those of age.
-Extensive answering of questions with "Because it is Eurovision." (An example: "Why are the flutes bedazzled?" "Because it is Eurovision.")

It is time for one of my annual posting traditions.

Today is the Eurovision grand final, and as always, my cousin and I will be hosting a watching in the common room with snacks and beverages (adult varieties of both subject to your discretion).

If you are joining us for the first time, please bear in mind that the answer to any question you might ask is always "because it is Eurovision".

Not only it is my birthday, today is the grand final of the Mister Global Pageant.

And there are just as many ridiculous feathers and scantily clad competitors as the Miss Universe pageant, but with men, which is more relevant to my interests.

Wine, snacks, and catty commentary is always in my interests no matter the international occasion, and thus there will be a watch party in the common area.

To all at the mansion, you are cordially invited to celebrate one of the two annual parties that my cousin and I host involving possibly irresponsible amounts of alcohol and food, a live commentary thread on the journals, and the heights of European ridiculousness.

An entire month has disappeared from the face of the earth. I am just now realizing after the holidays that we completely missed one of my two favorite times of the year.

The discussions of plans for the spring has reminded me that I should probably make an announcement.

Angelo and I are going to get married, making formal what everyone had likely already assumed. We have settled on the spring equinox, and will be having a small ceremony here at the mansion. All are invited.

It is one of my two favorite times of year.
