It is that time of year...

One of the two 'holidays' I celebrate here for everyone's benefit.

(the other is the national costume portion of the Miss Universe pageant, for those of you new to this)

IT IS EUROVISION SONG CONTEST TIME.

The grand final is this Saturday, and as is our habit, my cousin and I will be hosting a watch party with a variety of food and drink to be had.

Come watch:

-Marie-Ange and I engage in intense debate on whether France has decided to take this year seriously or just send a few idiots for the sake of it.
-Making fun of the more pretentious acts.
-Trying to determine which country who is otherwise completely out of the running will send the unexpected smash hit of the year (last year's was Moldova)
-Almost certainly drinking contests for those of age.
-Extensive answering of questions with "Because it is Eurovision." (An example: "Why are the flutes bedazzled?" "Because it is Eurovision.")

As always, I have ordered catering from several favourite places, and a very large The Platter from Harry's because I know all of you will complain if I do not.

I do not apologize at all for the paper invitations, you all deserve cards that pop out confetti and butterflies made of cellophane.

At least it wasn't glitter. And since you've got the food catered, I suppose I'll just bring soda bread? Or alcohol. Which would you prefer?

I only cater to a point, so that all of you who love to cook and bake can bring whatever you want and know it will be eaten. You can bring anything you like, although that cake from last year is very welcome if you would like strong suggestions.
